A resident of The Fountains Care Centre in Swinton, Manchester, has been paid an official visit by the Ceremonial Mayor. To mark her 100th Birthday, Maria, resident of The Fountains, was joined at the Care Centre by family, friends, and Councillor Charlie McIntyre, the Ceremonial Mayor of the City of Salford.
Surrounded by balloons and banners marking her milestone birthday, Maria was presented with an official gift. Following this, our Head Chef arrived with a stunning handmade cake with birthday candles. The rest of the afternoon was spent discussing memories of Maria’s interesting life over tea and cake.

At the Fountains Care Centre, we specialise in nursing, residential and dementia care. Recently the Fountains family have been fundraising to create a new sensory room, which is designed to have a positive effect on people suffering from dementia.
Winners of the Springboard Heroes Award also receive a £1,000 prize. On Thursday 22nd August representatives from the awards visited The Fountains to present the cheque to our staff and residents.
Shelley Hollorn, Administrator at The Fountains, said; “We are overwhelmed with the support we have received and are very grateful for all of the votes that have helped us win this amazing award. We’re going to use the award money to create an aquatic-themed sensory room for our dementia residents. They really like watching the tropical fish swim around in their tanks, as they find them really calming. The residents will love their new room and that’s what it’s all about.”
Thank you to everyone who voted for us, and to the incredible Fountains family for their continued dedication and hard work.
There were plenty of treats to celebrate Staff Recognition Week at The Fountains Care Centre. The team were treated to a chocolate fountain, pizza, curry, and a visit from an ice cream van. There was even the flavour of a summer fair with an eye-catching candy floss and popcorn stall!
Thank you to the entire team for all of their hard work.
